Security software solutions

This site is describing how to disable some features of the following security software which interferes with DT work:

  • PC Tools ThreatFire (free Edition of SpyWare Doctor) is currently completely incompatible with DT, but PC Tools is working on the problem
  • F-Secure (This is solved with latest F-Secure and updates, but will be left here in case F-Secure updates are breaking support)
  • SpyWare Doctor
  • ZoneAlarm
  • McAfee Total Protection
  • Other software

F-Secure (tested with Version 2010)

Right click on the F-Secure icon in tray area and select Open F-Secure Internet Security 2010.

    Now click on Settings.

  1. Click on the left side on DeepGuard;
  2. Uncheck Turn on DeepGuard;
  3. Press OK.
  4. Spyware Doctor (tested with Version 7.0.0.514)

    Right click on PC Tools Spyware Doctor icon in tray area and select Open.

  1. Click on the left side on IntelliGuard;
  2. Now select Behavior Guard;
  3. Press on Disable this Guard.
  1. Press on Settings;
  2. Select Advanced;
  3. Uncheck Enable kernel compatibility mode (requires reboot);
  4. Uncheck Enable Full-Screen Detection;
  5. Press Apply.
  6. Press on the following question (to reboot now or later) on Yes to restart your computer.

    After running Smart Update ensure Behaviour Guard (Threatfire) is disabled and then reboot your computer again.

    ZoneAlarm (tested with Version 9.1.008.001)

    Right click on ZoneAlarm icon in the tray area and select Show ZoneAlarm Extreme Security Control Center.

  1. Click on Browser Security;
  2. Select Off now.
  3. Before clicking Yes ensure all browsers are closed.

    If you are using ZoneAlarm Free, uninstall ZoneAlarm Toolbar or close IWSVC.exe using Task Manager.


    McAfee Total Protection Version 11.0

    McAfee Total Protection may cause DAEMON Tools Pro activation problem. In such case you will get the following massage on DAEMON Tools Pro start:
    "Unable to find activated DAEMON Tools Pro license"

    1. Double-click on McAfee Total Protection tray icon to open the program windows.
    2. Click on Virus and Spyware Protection.
    3. Then click Real-Time Scanning link.
    4. Click Settings to unfold options list.
    5. Change File Types option to Programs and documents only and clic Apply button.
    6. Then re-activated DAEMON Tools Pro with your serial number.

    S3D service from IZ3D

    ThreatFire service

    There is also possibility to uninstall the following softwares:

    • Proventia Desktop
    • Symantec EndPoint protection
