Registry and SPTD problemsThis chapter is describing problems and their solutions with SPTD and Registry: Try to disable your security software. For some products it is only necessary to disable one feature (mostly some "process monitor" or "process alteration"), please visit therefore Security software solutions. If you can't boot into Windows anymore, press F8 before you see the Windows Logo and select Safe Mode from the list. If you have SPTD 1.62 version or higher installed, driver will not boot in safe mode. Otherwise when you see Press ESC to cancel loading SPTD.sys on the bottom of the screen, you need to press ESC button. This will prevent SPTD from loading.
Open Registry Editor (in Windows 7, press the start button, type regedit, and press Enter.)
Now SPTD service is disabled. Continue removing it:
Now reboot your computer.
This is volatile key of DAEMON Tools installation which should disappear after reboot. If it still exists, delete it, and try again. If you have problems with SPTD layer installation, download SPTD stand-alone installer from http://www.disc-tools.com/download/sptd
Run the SPTD installer and update to the latest version. After reboot run installer again, and check the message. If it says SPTD version (currently v1.76) detected, SPTD installed correctly. You can continue with DAEMON Tools installation then. If it says no SPTD layer version detected, or gives an error message, DO NOT install DAEMON Tools! Please leave a message in our forum if you still have problems. Please check permissions and ownerships of the following Key in regedit (In Windows 7, press the start button, type regedit, and press Enter.): HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Enum The following users must have Full Access to this key and its subkeys:
It is possible you have to set the Ownership to your user name (also to its subkeys), before you can change the above mentioned permissions. How to do that is described above. Check if ACPI is enabled in your BIOS (restart your computer and then you should see a message like Press Del to enter setup. That key varies from BIOS to BIOS, sometimes it is F2 or Del). |
